Our Changing Moon

by J.M.Barrie

TheThe ancient Arabic cultures, dating as far back as 8,000 BC, used celestial navigation to provide a forecast for each day. The Mansions of the Moon, twenty eight in this system are the “resting places” of the moon in transit with stars from our neighboring constellations. Many are familiar stars from the twelve signs of the zodiac, but others are lesser know stars, such as Scheat and Markab in the great square of Pegasus. A moon clock, with very slow moving hands, can tell you – not what time of day, but what type of day is in the forecast. Please subscribe below to receive additional information.

Often called lunar mansion, a lunar station or moon mansion is a segment of the ecliptic through which the Moon passes in its orbit around the Earth. Each mansion lasts for 22.73 hours. The moon’s influence has a strong effect on the subconsious mind and is often related to moodiness because the shift between mansions occurs more quickly than other planetary influences. A clock of moon mansions would tell you not what time of day but the “TYPE” of day you are likely to have.

The Mansions of the Moon were also used for selecting the most appropriate day for various activities, which is demonstrated by the Ashmole 396 medieval manuscript.

The moon has entered the domain of the Pleiades, the cluster of stars in the shoulder of Taurus. Pleiades equals Prosperity – Yeah, how awesome is that! Talk of abundance and scarcity are commonplace, but prosperity less so. True prosperity is about having the resources to fulfill your destiny

A prosperous person has certain characteristics. For that person richness itself is not the basic aim. It happens anyway. A prosperous person does not gather wealth but the wealth of wealths. No matter what the circumstance a prosperous person creates, delivers and fulfills. They act with a constant equilibrium through all pressures and all shortcomings. That person will not barter the values of their character or identity for any temporary benefit. They always remember the presence and possibilities of the Infinite within each person. They cultivate endurance, dedication, and awareness. To such a person, prosperity is as natural as the breath, as unlimited as the mind and as immediate as this present moment.

Prosperity Redefined

Most people take one of three attitudes: scarcity, abundance, or prosperity.
Scarcity is the attitude of the negative mind, “ there is not enough.” People ruled by scarcity are adversed to taking risks and live with a fear of loss or become hyper vigilant about being misused.

Abundance is the province of the positive mind. People ruled by abundance thinking believe they can do almost anything with enough effort. They often accumulate possessions, money or accomplishments. But there is also a risk of absorption in the things they create so they lose their sense of purpose. Acquisition itself becomes a purpose until a certain emptiness questions the many successes they are focused on.

Prosperity is the gift of the neutral mind.

Prosperity is the ability to find, organize and use the resources you need to fulfill your highest destiny and identity. The neutral mind relies on intuition for clarity and keeps a sense of meaning and purpose at the center of your life’s efforts. The result is the sensitivity to what to do next, what not to do, and who to connect with in order to let your own inner destiny blossom.

Prosperity is not about wealth or poverty. It is about fulfillment of your destiny. It is about clarity amidst distractions and sidetracks. It is about relationships that are mutually satisfying. It is a gift that comes with every soul.

The has entered the domain of Mirach the 28th Mansion, representing the culmination of a cycle.

Beta (β) Andromeda, Mirach, is a yellow star in the “Girdle of Andromeda, located on her left hip. The “girdle” is a powerful belt of protective magic worn by the leader of the Amazonian tribe.

This star is represented by theHebrew letter Pé and the 17th Tarot Trump, The Stars.

Andromeda was the daughter of the Queen of Ethiopia, Cassiopeia. The name Andromeda translates as “Counselor” or “Ruler of Men.” ( See blog posting on goddess culture for more information on Andromeda’s story)

Beta (β) Mirach, appeared in very early Arabic drawings as the lucida (brightest star in the constellation) of the northern of the two Fishes of Pisces, and marked the Arabic 26th manzil Al Batn al Hut, “the Belly of the Fish”, or Al Kalb al Hut, “the Heart of the Fish”. In this location it was Al Risha, the Band, Cord, Ribbon, or Thread, as being on the line uniting the Fishes; but this title now belongs to alpha Piscium (Al Risha).

Along with upsilon, phi, and chi Pisces, it was the Egyptian Coptic lunar station Kuton, the “Thread” another name was Arit, an asterism indigenous to Egypt.

In astrology was a fortunate star, portending renown and good luck in matrimony. Influences here are to increase harvest and merchandise, helps travelers through danger, strengthens prisons and causes marital happiness and loss of treasure. When the moon is in this position emotions tend to run high. This time when people can be very reactive, so be gentle with each other. Hold onto your center and create inner calm and know that others will be entering into strong emotions. It would be wise to act as a counselor now, lending a supportive ear and not getting into heated dialogues with friends or partners or children.

Translates as Fortuna Fortunarum or the “Luckiest of the Lucky.”

This is a time for nurturing, benevolence, love ,favor and friendship.

This period of time ( the next 22.73 hours ) is represented by the Hebrew letter Nun and the 14th Card of the Tarot — Temperance.

The Beta (β) star Sa’d al su’ud, of the Aquarius constellation, is a pale yellow 3rd magnitude star in the left shoulder of the Water Carrier.

Sadalsuud also constituted the Persian lunar station Bunda and the similar Coptic people of Egypt Upuineuti, the Foundation;

On the Euphrates it was Kakkab Nammaχ, the Star of Mighty Destiny, that may have given origin to the title of the manzil (Arabic Moon Mansion), as well as to the astrologers’ name for it — Fortuna Fortunarum.

Moon in Pegasus

The great square of Pegasus, while easy to locate low on the horizon, is not often mentioned in astrological circles. Scheat and Markab, along with the stars, Alpheratz and Algenib, mark the great square of the Pegasus constellation. Arabian astronomers knew the star Markab as Mankib al Faras, which translates to the Horse’s Shoulder. The Coptic people of Egypt created the symbol of a water bearer, Aquarius, to signifying cosmic energies pertaining to Water. The symbol of Pegasus in mythology exemplifies the innate ability possessed by some people to negotiate difficulties by rising above them, on the one hand, and the danger of overreaching themselves, on the other. The moon mansion of this stars portends events concerning ships and the ocean and also changes in the weather. A positive influence of the moon energy emanating from Scheat, is a positive effect on mental creativity, if individuals are ready to receive such inflow.

Moon in Regulus

The red royal star Regulus, recognized as the heart of Leo has drifted westward over the last 2167 years. In 2011 Regulus precessed into Virgo. That means from our point of view, on earth, the royal red star now sits on the crown of the goddess in the Virgo constellation. What does this shift represent? The jewel in the crown is the return of the wisdom of the feminine divine and the return to the natural lore of the Earth’s intelligence.

Knowledge, sustainability and health

These are Virgo themes that assume prominence. Sustainability is key. Organic farming, recyclable materials, green energy, and Fair Trade are all in early stages and currently only a small fraction of what is possible. Soon those who have the ability to live in a sustainable way will be in power. Just as influence changed from the priests to the guilds in the medieval era, and knowledge moved from monasteries to universities, so it will be for communities and countries that live sustainably. The true costs of pesticides, a throw-away culture, polluting fuels and employment disparities will be inefficient and undesirable.

Virgo is about holistic health. On a societal level, countries with healthy citizens and adequate care systems will produce more with lower costs compared to countries swamped by disease and high expenditures. Power itself will need to be productive and show quantifiable results. There will be more watchdog types of agencies and greater concern about reputation. Virgo holds the balance scales of Libra in her hand. This is a time to tune into the balance of the environment. With the moon in this position at he time of the moon dark, it is a powerful position to pose questions and set intentions of balance.
